Sára Bori’s work is shaped by an early, lived understanding of how water systems touch everyday life. In the Netherlands, through a grandfather who settled in the 1980s in a town newly carved from the sea, and an aunt who made her home on a boat. In rural Hungary, her family relied on self‑supply, so during her childhood years she had to get drinking water from her grandmother’s piped town connection because the water at home was unsafe to drink.

The end of traditional aid is not a crisis for Riva. We’ve been moving towards this moment for more than a decade, and Bryony Stentiford is one of the reasons we’re ready. Bryony has spent ten years building the partnerships and funding relationships that have allowed us to move beyond our previous NGO role, to become something more compelling in services and approach to nation builders, notably government.

Stef has worked with governments, NGOs, development banks and consultants across all areas of the international water sector: from analysing the lifetime costs of services and how they can be financed, to developing institutional arrangements and monitoring their effectiveness. He brings that analytical rigour to strategic advisory work, based on more than 25 years of experience across more than 25 countries in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia – turning research findings into practical decisions and investment strategies.

Tettje van Daalen is a managing editor and communications professional who helps teams turn complex text into accessible language and clear, credible stories that people can act on. She believes that good writing is not decoration; it is a service. It makes decisions transparent, helps partners align, and ensures public commitments can be understood — and therefore held.

In the global effort to provide sustainable and universal water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services, one truth is clear: infrastructure alone is not enough. Functioning and resilient services are delivered by systems that are made up of capable people, responsive institutions, and effective collaboration between all actors involved. 

A researcher at heart, Marieke loves working with local and national governments, non-governmental organisations, private sector and academic institutions on identifying and addressing challenges related to the provision of public services, especially water supply and sanitation. The practical application and use of research findings, information and data is central to Marieke’s work. She has supported local governments and their partners in Ghana, Ethiopia and Rwanda, in using data to develop and implement robust master plans.
